Insook Park RESPIRATION  /  curated by Julie Jang and Chunbum Park

My work explores the meeting point of nature, culture and spirituality.

In my recent work, I have reinterpreted the “plum blossom tree,“ a subject in traditional Korean painting that my ancestors have treated for more than five centuries, through a diasporic perspective.

The vertical and horizontal lines of plum blossom branches and repeated the colored pencil lines on the wood panel . It is a meditative activity that also fosters a consensus with nature and healing the inner world.

Through these works, I wish to convey a message of healing and comfort through the interconnection of nature and spirituality.
